Senator Graham Signals Possible US Role in Iran Protests
His comments arrive just a week after a US operation in Venezuela that resulted in the abduction of President Nicolas Maduro. Analysts caution that these escalating events could destabilize several nations across multiple regions.
On Saturday, Graham used X to address Iranian protesters directly, declaring “Help is on the way,” echoing Trump’s latest public statements. Only hours earlier, Trump had posted on Truth Social, hinting that Washington may be ready to step into Iran to bolster its citizens’ pursuit of “freedom.”
“When President Trump says Make Iran Great Again, it means the protestors in Iran must prevail over the ayatollah,” Graham wrote. “That is the clearest signal yet that he, President Trump, understands Iran will never be great with the ayatollah and his henchmen in charge.”
Later that day, Graham shared a photo of himself alongside Trump aboard Air Force One, both posing with a ‘Make Iran Great Again’ cap. Trump originally introduced the slogan in June, during Israel’s 12-day aerial campaign against Iran. At that time, he remarked that if Tehran could not “make Iran great again,” then “regime change” should be considered.
