Trump Announces "Board of Peace for Gaza" Taking Shape
"The Board of Peace is being formed," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday.
"Essentially, it's the most important leaders of the most important nations ... You take the most important leaders and nations, that's who the Board of Peace is going to be."
The president indicated overwhelming global appetite for participation in the diplomatic initiative, stating: "Everybody wants to be on it."
The proposed 15-member body, slated to be chaired by Trump, will exercise supervisory authority over a forthcoming Palestinian technocratic administration while directing Gaza's reconstruction operations, administration officials indicated.
Nations anticipated to secure board positions include the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye, with former UN Middle East envoy Nikolay Mladenov potentially serving as the Board of Peace's ground-level representative.
While reports suggested the panel's unveiling could occur within days, Trump refrained from providing a specific launch timeline. His administration has repeatedly pushed back the announcement after initially targeting a December rollout for the Board of Peace.
The initiative represents the Trump administration's most ambitious Middle East diplomatic framework to date, aiming to establish international consensus on Gaza's post-conflict governance structure amid ongoing regional tensions.
