Rep. Brock Martin applauds city of Milan forreceiving recreational trails grant
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Brock Martin, R-Huntingdon, is congratulating the city of Milan for
receiving a $391,092 grant awarded through the Tennessee Department of Environment and
Conservation’s(TDEC) Office of Outdoor Recreation. The funding was awarded through the Recreational
Trails Program.
The funding is part of more than $20 million in grant awards recently announced by TDEC to improve
parks and outdoor recreation across Tennessee. Milan’s award will support restroom improvements at
McKellar Park.
“Local parks provide important places for families to gather, stay active and enjoy time outdoors,” said
Martin. “Improving the facilities at McKellar Park will make the park more enjoyable for residents and
visitors. I appreciate the local and state leaders who helped secure this funding for Milan.”
The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) is a federally funded, state-administered grant program that
supports land acquisition for trails, non-routine trail maintenance, trail construction, trail rehabilitation
and trailhead facilities. Grants are awarded on an 80% grant and 20% local match basis.
The city of Milan is one of 19 communities across Tennessee receiving funding through this round of
Local Parks and Recreation Fund and Recreational Trails Program grants.
Rep. Brick Martin represents District 79, which includes part of Carroll, Gibson and Henderson counties.
